RBI monetary policy dates 2026-27
The Reserve Bank's Monetary Policy Committee meets six times a year. The decision is announced at 10:00 IST on the last day of each meeting, followed by the Governor's press conference — the most important scheduled event for BANKNIFTY.

What time is the RBI policy announced?
10:00 IST on the last day of the meeting. The market is open, so the first move is immediate: BANKNIFTY and the rate-sensitive stocks (banks, NBFCs, auto, realty) reprice in the first five minutes, and again during the press conference around 10:45 when the stance and guidance come through.
How do options price the RBI decision?
Weekly BANKNIFTY and NIFTY options carry a premium into the meeting. The ATM straddle of the expiry that spans the decision is the implied move; it typically collapses (vol crush) within an hour of the announcement. How many MPC meetings are there in a year?
Six bi-monthly meetings — normally April, June, August, October, December and February — each three days long. The minutes are published on the 14th day after the meeting.
